Emma Foughty is currently pursuing her BFA in Musical Theatre from The University of Alabama School of Theatre and Dance. She grew up in the Dallas Fort Worth area immersed in its vibrant theatre and dance community.

From the age of three she studied dance at the Chamberlain School of Ballet in Plano, TX under instructors such as Kathy Chamberlain, Carter Alexander, Tim Fox, Suzette Mariaux and Jane Martin. While being primarily focused on the Balanchine technique™, Emma quickly found a love for musical theatre, jazz, and tap. She studied voice under Kathy French and with her encouragement performed in her first musical, Annie Jr, as Lily St. Regis in sixth grade.

Emma started to dance pre-professionally with the Chamberlain Ballet Company in 2017 and remained there until 2020, when she decided to pursue musical theatre as a career. During her time at Chamberlain she performed several roles in The Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, and What We Do With Time (originally choreographed for SMU Meadows School of the Arts by Brandi Coleman). Under the guidance of Tracy Jordan, she advanced her tap and Luigi jazz technique at The Ballet Conservatory in Lewisville, TX until 2023. Other instructors in tap and jazz included Catherine Mooney Burton, Kevyn Robertson, Hillary Werthman Swalm, Dory Kyrias & Candice Woods.

During the summer of 2022 she participated in the Oklahoma City University Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment summer intensive where she studied under Vincent Sandoval, Alana Martin, Tiffany van der Merwe, Jessica Faye and Tye Love.

Emma has been pursuing her BFA in Theatre with a Concentration in Musical Theatre since the fall of 2023. She will graduate from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa May 2027. During her time at UA she has had the opportunity to perform in musicals on the university's main stage, in a staged concert with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and participate in productions within the Tuscaloosa community.

Emma spent the summers of 2024 and 2025 teaching jazz, dance history, and stage makeup at Chamberlain School of Ballet while performing professionally in the DFW area. In the fall of 2025 she began teaching dance part time at Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre. This summer she will continue to teach dance while performing in the ensemble of The Little Mermaid at Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama.

Emma’s eleven years of vocal training have been under the direction of Kathy French (2014-2024), Tina Walsh (2022-2023) and Dr William A. Martin (2023-Present).

In 2024 she was recognized as "Newcomer of the Year" with Rockwall Summer Musicals. Emma received the award for Best Choreography at the Broadway Dallas HSMTA in 2022.

Emma is currently located in the Birmingham area and anticipates completing her BFA in 2027!
